Intro from the article: An entirely new series of subscriber telephone sets has been developed jointly by Standard Elektrik Lorenz and Bell Telephone Manufacturing Company. With the requirements of several European telephone administrations inmind, several models were designed and tested [1] by a large number of subscribers in various countries during 1956 and 1957. The majority favored the Assistant set shown in Figures 1and 2.
